Don’t forget to pay a visit to Harki Pauri in Haridwar or view the captivating Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh. All towns offer welcoming lodgings, ideal for acclimating to the climate before ascending to higher altitudes. If you are lucky, engage in conversation with some of the townspeople about the prevailing weather conditions while travelling. In mean time they will go to fitness centre to pass the Uttarakhand RTO.

Yamunotri

Day 2–3: Rishikesh to Yamunotri (via Mussoorie / Barkot) — ~220 km

The beautiful towns of Mussoorie and Barkot are along the route from Rishikesh to Janki Chatti (the base for Yamunotri). The final 5 kilometers to the Yamunotri temple must be completed on foot or by pony, which adds a charm to your Char Dham Yatra by road. The hot springs of Surya Kund allow visitors to bathe in their healing waters. You can also purchase sacred prasad for the temple. The architecture of the temple and the surrounding nature create a profound chakra energy.

Day 4–5: Yamunotri to Gangotri (~100 km)

The real challenge starts from Gaurikund, which is the starting point of a 16-kilometer-long trek to Kedarnath. The 16-kilometer journey is challenging, but it’s well worth it. This steep uphill path takes you through forests, rivers, and small rest stops like Jungle Chatti, Bheembali, and Linchauli. You can walk, hire a pony, or take a palanquin (doli). Helicopter services are also available for those who cannot trek.

Day 9–10: Kedarnath to Badrinath (~215 km)
